Wilson County Projects
In the Spring of 2022, the MPO will be working with Wilson Medical Center, the City of Neodesha, and the Wilson County Active Transportation Board to install two demonstration projects in Neodesha. The goal of the projects is to improve the safety of crosswalks.
The materials to be used for the projects are on loan from the Flint Hills MPO.

1 Curb Extension - This project will provide better visibility for vehicles and pedestrians by extending the curb to align with the parallel parking lane. In addition, the crossing will be shorter, resulting in less time spent in the roadway.
3 Pedestrian Island - In addition to making the crossing more visible, this project will allow Heller Elementary students to cross only one lane of traffic at a time, shortening the time spent in the street, and providing a safe place to wait if vehicles fail to yield.
2 Pedestrian Island - This project will allow high school students to cross only one lane of traffic at a time, shortening the time spent in the street and providing a safe place to wait if vehicles fail to yield.
