Safe Routes to School Plan

The 2015 Safe Routes to School Plan for USD 383 is being updated. Over the last six years, many of the projects identified in the 2015 Plan have been implemented. The updated SRTS Plan will identify new projects and strategies for improving the safety of walking and biking.

The MPO will be working with the City and School District to develop the new Safe Routes to School Plan. The City will hire a consulting engineering firm to prepare cost estimates for identified construction projects.

The 6 Es of SRTS Plans

Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a federally-funded program that aims to make walking and biking to school safer for children. To ensure successful assessment and implementation of the SRTS Plans, there are six areas of focus, called the "6 Es", included in each plan.
